Dog breeds of the world

You have probably heard about Newfoundlands, German shepherds and Bulldogs, but what about the Akita, Vizsla and Beauceron? The fact that a dog breed is popular doesn’t automatically mean that it is the perfect breed for you. When picking a dog breed, do not focus only on dogs owned by your friends and neighbours. By taking a look at some of the less well known dog breeds of the world, you might very well stumble over the perfect dog breed for you and your life style. This is true regardless of whether you are looking for a small dog breed or something huge like a Great Dane or Leonberger. A problem associated with choosing very common dog breeds is the fact that popular dog breeds are the main targets for so called puppy mills. Puppy mills breed dogs in order to make as much money as fast as possible, and does not care about hereditary dog diseases, proper puppy socialization and so on. When you purchase a rare dog breed, you are less likely to encounter puppies from puppy mills since puppy mills tend to focus on the breeds that are really easy to sell. Be careful however, because sometimes puppy mill owners try to sell a mixed breed dog by falsely claiming that is it a very rare and unusual pure breed dog. Even if you are interested in owning a mixed breed dog, you should stay away from puppy mills since they frequently use unsuitable parents and fail to provide their dogs with proper socialisation, veterinary care, nutritious food, and so on.
